TRAILER: Star Wars: The Acolyte Sends Fans Into Frenzy
Disney has released the debut trailer for Star Wars: The Acolyte, and fans are loving it.
The trailer, which attracted a million views in the first three hours alone, opens to a white-robed Jedi master (Squid Game’s Lee Jung-jae) teaching a room of young Padawan.
Next he asks a troubled Jedi what’s happened, and the Jedi responds, “I sensed darkness.” That’ll be the powerful new Sith on the rampage.
Set roughly one hundred years before Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, the Jedi have ushered in a time of peace and prosperity. The Sith do not exist. So who is killing all of these Jedi? That’s what Jung-jae’s Jedi master is keen to find out.
The tone of Star Wars: The Acolyte is as grown-up as anything we’ve seen from Star Wars so far, looking to mirror the depth and maturity of 2022 Disney+ series Star Wars: Andor.
You only need to see the latest promotion for an indication of that, because Star Wars: The Acolyte shocks with its gory poster reveal.
Star Wars: The Acolyte also features The Matrix’s Carrie-Anne Moss, The Good Place’s Manny Jacinto, and Logan’s Dafne Keen.
The two-episode premiere of Star Wars: The Acolyte releases June 4 on Disney+. See the trailer below.
