Travel + Leisure names Oregon destination among best in US for fall foliage
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Travel + Leisure ranked the 22 best places to see fall foliage in the United States — including one area in Oregon with “incredible” views of fall colors and waterfalls.
The top spots on the list include Stowe, Vermont; Amicalola Falls State Park, Georgia; Plum Orchard Lake, West Virginia; and Catskill Mountains, New York.
But only one spot in Oregon made the list: the Columbia River Gorge.

“Forming the border between Washington and Oregon, the Columbia River Gorge is home to more than 90 waterfalls. They’re lovely in summer, but during October and November, the area’s rolling green hills and mountains become a symphony of fall colors,” Travel + Leisure said. “Hike or bike your way along the trails to get incredible views and great foliage shots.”
The outlet also named the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest in Washington state among the best places for leaf peeping.
