Travis Barker's Comments About Attraction to Kim Kardashian Resurface
Travis Barker and Kim Kardashian
Amid Kourtney and Kim Kardashian's feud on The Kardashians, Travis Barker's comments about his attraction towards the SKIMS founder have resurfaced.
In his 2015 memoir Can I Say: Living Large, Cheating Death, and Drums, Drums, Drums, published nearly five years before the Blink-182 drummer started dating his now-wife Kourtney, he admitted to being attracted to Kim.
He wrote that when he first met the 42-year-old, she was working as Paris Hilton's closet organizer. "She would grab Paris’s bags, put them in the closet, unpack them, put everything where Paris could find it," he recalled.
The Simple Life alum was Barker's girlfriend at the time, but he couldn't help being attracted to Kim while on a group trip to Amsterdam. "I kept on secretly checking out Kim, telling Lil Chris, 'I don’t care if she's the closet girl, she's f------ hot," he admitted.
He additionally noted that besides rebounding from ex-wife Shanna Moakler with Hilton, he "started talking" with Kim. Their flirtation came on the heels of her sex tape leak with ex Ray J, who she'd recently broken up with. Barker recalled Kim told him that she was in the process of planning her reality show, Keeping Up With the Kardashians, which ended up turning her into one of the world's most recognized celebrities. "I respected her hustle," he wrote.
"You might think I would be doing the worst things with this girl because of her tapes, but it was the exact opposite of any other encounter I’ve had with a woman: with Kim, I wanted to be nothing but a gentleman to her," he explained of their brief fling. He also claimed that their relationship never got physical, noting that it "wasn't meant to be."
Barker remained a longtime friend of Kim and her sisters, as they lived in the same neighborhood. In The Kardashians, it was revealed that Kourtney's friendship with Travis turned into something more when they kissed during a movie night in 2020. They made their relationship public the following year and married in 2022. They're currently expecting their first child together.
In the sisters' Hulu reality series, Kim accused Kourtney of copying her, saying, "You stole my f---ing wedding country and my wedding performer. Andrea Bocelli is my favorite male singer of all time, but I’m copying her dolce vita lifestyle? Okay."
The fight kept escalating throughout the episodes, with Kim alleging that there's a group chat called "Not Kourtney" where the Poosh founder's friends have "side chats" about her behavior. Kourtney's friends denied this, standing by her side.
