Travis Kelce Calls Buffalo Fans 'Disrespectful' for Treatment of Taylor Swift, Patrick Mahomes

Ahead of the Kansas City Chiefs playoff game against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday night, fans of both teams were ready to catch a glimpse of Travis Kelce's girlfriend Taylor Swift high in the stands. But while some young Bills fans came equipped with signs and friendship bracelets, others were decidedly less welcoming to the pop star.

During the latest episode of the Kelce's New Heights podcast, which he hosts with his brother Jason Kelce, the pair gave a rundown of the game, which the Chiefs managed to win 27–24. Though initially, Travis only had glowing words for Bills fans, who ultimately were left disappointed with the outcome.

"Dude, I have to tip my hat to Bills Mafia, it's such an awesome atmosphere playing up there," Travis said. "It's so much fun, they brought the energy, they got rowdy for every single play ... and they made it fun. Obviously, I'm saying this differently if we [had come out] with an L instead of a victory, but I can't thank Bills Mafia enough for showing up and showing out like they did, and making that environment a memorable one for everybody involved, man, that was electric."

However, as they talked about the Chiefs win, Jason pointed out that his older brother had made a heart gesture with his hands, emulating his girlfriend's signature pose that she signals to fans at concerts. "The celebration went wild with you, with that little heart," the 36-year-old Philadelphia Eagles center noted.

Many fans assumed that he was directing the gesture at Swift, but as Travis explained, that wasn't necessarily the truth.

"Yeah, man, had to spread the love, baby. You always gotta spread that love, baby," he recalled. "There was a lot of hate pulling up to that stadium, man. Understandably. It’s a football game. The Bills, coming into their house, they want to make it rowdy. Did it get a little disrespectful? One thousand percent. Did it get a little extra? One thousand percent."

"I'm not gonna say, because that's what they want," Kelce continued, when asked what sort of things Bills fans were shouting. Though he did not specify that some of the abuse was directed at Swift, it was hardly a secret that she didn't exactly get a warm reception at Highmark Stadium. "I’m not going to relay it, but some things were said about the family," he said. "Some pretty inappropriate things were said about Pat Mahomes. It was pretty wack."

"I get it, I get it, coming into a hostile environment, I expect it," he added. "I just wanted to make sure it wasn’t mutual. I don’t hate you guys like you hate us. It’s all love, baby."

We'll see if that love continues when the Chiefs face off against the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC championship game on Sunday. For what it's worth, Swift is indeed expected to be in attendance.
