Travis Kelce Calls Out NFL for 'Overdoing It' With the Taylor Swift Coverage at Games

Travis Kelce, 33, shared his honest opinion about the NFL paying a lot of attention to his rumored girlfriend Taylor Swift, 33, and her attendance at the Kansas City Chiefs games during football coverage.

During the newest episode of Travis' podcast, New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce—which he hosts with his brother and fellow football player, Jason Kelce, 35—the tight end admitted that the NFL is "overdoing it" with how much they continue to focus on Swift and their relationship in the news.

Jason asked his younger brother, "Let's get to it, is the NFL overdoing it?" He then added, "What’s your honest opinion? Take away your feelings for Taylor..."

This got a laugh out of Travis, who then said, "I think it’s fun when they show who was at the game. I think it brings a little bit more to the atmosphere, brings a little bit more to what you’re watching. But at the same time, I think-"

"They're overdoing it," Jason cut in. Travis agreed, stating, "They’re overdoing it a little bit for sure, especially my situation. [But] I think they’re just trying to have fun with it."

After Swift and other celebrities like Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, and Sophie Turner attended the Kansas City Chiefs and New York Jets football game on Sunday, Oct. 2, Jason had a theory about why the NFL doesn't have the best strategy for its Swift coverage.

He said that the NFL is "just not used to celebrities coming to the games," while in comparison, "basketball has it figured out. They show them once or twice but then they get back to the game. NFL is like, 'Oh my god look at all these A-list celebrities at the game, keep showing them, show em, show em…'"

Jason suggested that the NFL show the celebrities once when they get there, and maybe when a team scores or something similarly exciting happens, adding, "People are there to watch the game right?"

Travis felt the same way, noting that the celebrity guests also aren't "there to get thrown on the TV." Even Travis got a bigger focus during the game coverage, as Jason said that he was featured in many of the commercials shown during the broadcast.

NFL fans haven't held back in voicing their irritation about the constant Travis and Swift coverage. When the Sunday Night Football on NFL Instagram account posted a clip of Swift and Travis' mother Donna, one fan commented, "Enough already!!!!!"

"Omg this is too much stop please," said another. Despite that, there were also many Swift fans in the comments loving the sweet moment.

While Travis and Swift continue to be spotted together, whether it's at his games or elsewhere, the two have not publicly confirmed a relationship.
