Travis Kelce Finally Offers Insight Into How He Connected With Taylor Swift After Failed Friendship Bracelet Attempt
L: Travis Kelce, R: Taylor Swift
Travis Kelce is pretty good about keeping mum when it comes to Taylor Swift, but the Kansas City Chiefs tight end is throwing fans a bone.
In a new interview with the Wall Street Journal, the NFL star sheds a little light on the start of their relationship, shutting down a recent fan theory suggesting the two actually started dating before he claimed to have failed in his endeavor to slip her his phone number via friendship bracelet.
While many believe in the power of manifestation, Kelce says he found his in shortly after detailing his plans on the podcast he shares with his brother, Eagles center Jason Kelce, thanks to a little help from an unnamed member of Swift's team.
According to the footballer, somebody there was "playing cupid." He explained, “There were definitely people she knew that knew who I was, in her corner [who said]: 'Yo! Did you know he was coming?'"
Of course, that was unbeknownst to him at the time. At some point not long after, someone from Swift's side of things got their hands on his phone number. “She told me exactly what was going on and how I got lucky enough to get her to reach out,” he shared.
He continued, joking that Swift would "probably hate [him] for saying" that members of her family played a hand in everything, too. "...When she came to Arrowhead, they gave her the big locker room as a dressing room, and her little cousins were taking pictures…in front of my locker,” he revealed.
The couple has taken several big steps in their relationship in the last week or so, hard launching things when Swift jumped into his arms in front of the crowd at one of her concerts in Argentina. Now, though Swift won't be present for the occasion, their parents are expected to meet for the first time at the "family reunion game" between the Chiefs and Eagles on Monday, Nov. 20.
