What Travis Kelce Plans to Do When He Retires From the NFL
Travis Kelce #87 of the Kansas City Chiefs
Travis Kelce’s next chapter might involve working in the film and TV world, though the Kansas City Chiefs tight end has said his NFL retirement is a long way off.
Kelce, whose whirlwind romance with pop star Taylor Swift has elevated his public profile over the last several months, dipped his toe in the water when he hosted Saturday Night Live last spring. An unnamed source recently told People that Kelce “had a blast” hosting the comedy sketch show. After he leaves the NFL, Kelce “wants to lean into acting and hosting,” the source said.
Kelce’s schedule is busy at the moment, with the Chiefs hoping to advance in the NFL playoffs with the goal of making it to another Super Bowl. But during the offseason, Kelce “lets loose and loves going out with his friends and traveling,” the source told the outlet.

Kelce, 34, previously told reporters during a Jan. 11 press conference that he views “the point of the offseason” as “being able to get out there and really find what you love to do.” He mentioned hosting SNL, specifically, as one such experiment that he enjoyed.
“I’ve been fortunate to do a few things outside of the sports world that I’ve been enjoying doing, like getting on camera,” Kelce said. “The SNL stuff kind of opened up a new happiness and maybe a new career path for me.”
Despite his interest in entertainment, Kelce said he has “no reason to stop playing football” and “no desire to stop anytime soon.” He added that it is “funny” for him to consider his retirement at this stage of his career “because I think it’s so much further down the road than it is right now.”
The source who spoke with People reiterated Kelce’s continued commitment to the game. For Kelce, “football has and will always come first,” they said.
