Travis Kelce is the latest member of the Kansas City Chiefs to speak out about the shooting that took place during the Super Bowl LVIII victory parade.

On Wednesday, Feb. 14, the celebration in downtown Kansas City, Mo., was wrapping up when multiple shots were fired, leaving at least one person dead and 21 others injured, local law enforcement officials confirmed.

Three people have been apprehended in connection with the shooting. Details regarding the circumstances surrounding the incident and the suspects' motives were still under investigation Wednesday evening.

Kelce, 34, broke his silence on the situation with a message on X, writing, "I am heartbroken over the tragedy that took place today. My heart is with all who came out to celebrate with us and have been affected. KC, you mean the world to me."

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes already addressed the situation in his own message on Wednesday afternoon, writing in a post on X, "Praying for Kansas City...????????????."

His wife, Brittany Mahomes, shared her own message about the tragedy via Instagram on Wednesday, writing, "Shooting people is never the answer ?? Praying for Kansas City & America in general, this is rough ??"

"Highly embarrassed and disappointed in this, Super Bowl wins will never be the same because of this, it's devastating," the former soccer pro wrote in a follow-up post. "Lives lost and people injured during something that was supposed to be a celebration."

"Horrible and traumatizing," she added. "So many prayers going to the families involved ??"

Chiefs teammate Drue Tranquill also took to X after the tragic events unfolded, urging his followers, "Please join me in prayer for all the victims in this heinous act."

He continued, "Pray that doctors & first responders would have steady hands & that all would experience full healing."

Kansas City Police Department chief Stacey Graves said in a press conference on Wednesday afternoon that the situation was still under investigation.

Though police were initially unsure of how many people were injured by the gunfire, Graves said during a second press conference Wednesday evening that one person had been killed and at least 21 others were injured. Eight of the victims had immediate life-threatening injuries, seven had life-threatening injuries and six had minor injuries. The victims were taken to three hospitals in the area for treatment of their injuries.

Three individuals were taken into custody as a result of the situation, while the crowds were instructed to clear the area and get to safety.

The Kansas City Chiefs confirmed that all of the teams players, coaches, staff and their families were "safe and accounted for" in a message shared hours after the incident.

"We are truly saddened by the senseless act of violence that occurred outside of Union Station at the conclusion of today's parade and rally," read the Chiefs' statement shared to X on Wednesday. "Our hearts go out to the victims, their families, and all of Kansas City."

The team said they are in "close communication with the Mayor's office as well as the Kansas City Police Department." They also expressed their appreciation for the "local law enforcement officers and first responders who were on-scene to assist."
