From an ex to a fan. Trevor Noah introduced Dua Lipa at the Grammys 2024 a year after dating rumors. The 66th annual Grammy Awards were held on February 4, 2024, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California.

Lipa was the first performer at the Grammys, where she sang her new single, “Training Season,” and “Dance the Night” from the Barbie movie soundtrack. Lipa was nominated for two awards at the Grammys: Song of the Year and Best Song Written for Visual Media for “Dance the Night.”

Before her performance, Noah, who is this year’s Grammy’s host, introduced Lipa from a stage outside of the Crypto.com Arena. “Give it up for Dua Lipa,” he said. He continued to commend Lipa on her performance after it was over as he went into his opening monologue for the awards show. “Are you kidding me right now? Give it up y’all Dua Lipa,” he said before referencing Lipa’s performance scaffolding. “That’s why she’s one of the greatest performers of our generation. I’m not going to look at scaffolding the same. And Dua Lipa is just the beginning.”

The moment came about a year and a half after Lipa and Noah were photographed on a date at the restaurant Miss Lily’s in New York City in September 2022. The pictures came after Noah’s breakup with actress Minka Kelly in May 2022. “They were quietly sat away from everyone else at the restaurant. It was clear they were into each other and sat close together throughout the meal. They left together and walked, stopping for long embraces and on the second kiss with hugs,” a source told The Daily Mail at the time.

Lipa seemed to respond to the rumors in an interview on the “Dua Lipa: At Your Service” podcast in October 2022, where she confirmed she was single. “For me, this is the first year I’ve not been in a relationship for a very long time,” she said. “It’s been really great to just be alone and only think about myself and kind of be quite selfish, which I’ve never really had the opportunity to do. But when you find someone that really softens you and calms you down. I think it is the Leo thing—it makes a big difference.” Page Six confirmed in December 2022 that Lipa and Noah didn’t see each other again after they were photographed at Miss Lily’s. “They haven’t spoken since,” the insider said.

Noah was also asked about the rumors by The Hollywood Reporter in November 2022, where the magazine stated that he “simply lean[ed] back in his chair and laugh[ed]” as a response to the photos.

Noah is currently linked to influencer Zoe Mabie. The two sparked dating rumors in January 2024 when Mabie shared a throw Instagram video, which included a clip of Noah sitting at a table. “We love summer,” she captioned the post. Lipa, for her part, is linked to actor Callum Turner, who recently starred in the award-season-favorite movie, The Boys and The Boat. “It’s new, but but they’re mad about each other,” a source told Page Six in January 2024. The two were also photographed leaving Sushi Park in Los Angeles that month.

In an interview with E! Live From the Red Carpet at the Grammys, host Laverne Cox asked Lipa about a teaser from “Training Season.” “In the tease, you’re talking about like, ‘I need a man who takes control. I need him to be strong. I don’t want to teach him anything,'” Cox said. “Girl, I feel you!” Lipa responded, “They gotta come correct!”

Cox then asked, “Is ‘Training Season’ about a man coming correct, or whoever you did date?” to which Lipa responded, “It’s about training season being over. I’m, like, done training someone up.”

Lipa also confirmed that an album is set to follow “Training Day.” “It’s coming. It’s coming soon,” she said.

The 66th annual Grammy Awards air on Sunday, February 4, 2024, at 8 p.m. on CBS. Here’s how to watch it for free.
