There's a lot of pomp and circumstance surrounding the person who mans the grill. For the 30 seconds when all heads turn your way as you carry a platter of smoking ribs to the table, you are a god. But for the the other 30 minutes you spend missing all the action, you are a shmuck - a total sucker. What you need is a guise, some way to take the burden off of you and put it on everyone at your party.

Think of a JAG Grill as a Benihana in your backyard, and all your guests are wearing that tall, white chef's hat. There's a hole in the center of the structure for a wood- or charcoal-based fire - and on top of it, steel grilling racks, so veggies and meat can cook directly on them. (You can remove the dome after dinner to create an open fire pit.)

But here's what'll distract you from the steep price tag: The whole thing doubles as an outdoor dining set. The grill comes in two sizes - an octagon with room for eight and a hexagon that can seat six. Everyone can sidle right up to the wood panel surface that surrounds the grill racks and have at it.

All of the parts - the stainless steel grilling racks, the dome, the wooden surfaces - are removable to allow for easy cleaning and storage. When the whole thing's broken down, the center portion becomes a standalone grill, which you can load into your car and take it camping or to the beach.

But when it comes to flipping the burgers, well, you're on your own again.
