I Tried Baskin-Robbins’ New September Flavor of the Month — And It’s Bananas
Ice cream season may be over, but ice cream during fall season has just begun. And one ice cream company is going bananas to celebrate (literally). It’s not every day that a new ice cream flavor stops me in my tracks, but when I heard about Baskin-Robbins' new September flavor of the month, OREO? Monkey Business, I had to make an exception. Crunchy Oreo cookies mixed with creamy banana flavor? Sounds like a combination you never knew you needed. I couldn't wait to see if this flavor lives up to its playful name, so I decided to try it and give you all the scoop.
What is the Baskin-Robbins flavor of the month?
The limited-edition OREO? Monkey Business flavor is what Baskin-Robbins describes as, "a new kind of monkeying around." This new flavor features creamy banana ice cream mixed with crunchy OREO? cookie pieces and gooey peanut butter swirls that bring it all together. It's like a party in your mouth where banana and chocolate flavors get along like old friends.
You can swing by your local Baskin-Robbins locations and enjoy this treat as a scoop, Shake or Sundae. Better yet, order ahead through the BR App and pick it up in as little as 15 minutes — the perfect way to satisfy your sweet tooth in a flash.

More fall ice cream flavors from Baskin-Robbins
The excitement doesn't end there. Baskin-Robbins also released their new fall lineup of seasonal scoops and returning favorites to participating shops. Here are the limited edition flavors to look out for:
1. Pumpkin cheesecake
"Fall into flavor with our popular pumpkin and cheesecake-flavored ice creams, featuring cinnamon cream cheese flavored swirls and delicious ginger snap cookie pieces that create a festive flavor combination," Baskin-Robbins said in a press release.
2. German chocolate cake
Can you have your cake and it it too? According to Baskin-Robbins, yes you can! They're bringing back the fan-favorite which features "smooth Swiss-style chocolate ice cream layered with fudge brownies, walnut pieces, coconut flakes and caramel swirls."
3. Non-dairy cookies ‘n crème
Don't eat dairy? No problem — Baskin-Robbins has you covered with a new non-dairy twist on a classic. It has all the same flavors of the original OREO? Cookies ‘n Cream, but swaps in coconut milk for an entirely vegan-friendly bite.
My review of the Baskin-Robbins flavor of the month
First of all, I have to say that the OREO? Monkey Business flavor definitely earns some points in the looks department. My first impressions were promising: the ice cream had a vibrant, banana-yellow appearance with visible chunks of OREO? cookies and swirls of peanut butter.
While I love banana in baked goods, I can't say the same thing for ice cream. However, my first bite offered a smooth, creamy banana flavor that was pleasantly sweet and not overpowering. The OREO? cookie pieces added a satisfying crunch, though I found myself wishing for a few more of them to create a more consistent texture throughout.
The peanut butter swirls were a great touch — I absolutely love the combination of peanut butter and banana. While some bites delivered a nice, nutty richness more so than others, I appreciated how it added more depth of flavor.
Overall, while OREO? Monkey Business is enjoyable, I wouldn't say it beats my personal favorite of Peanut Butter 'n Chocolate. However, if you love banana flavor, or just want something new from Baskin-Robbins, it’s absolutely worth trying this month.
