I Tried Pickle Chapstick and It's the Perfect Stocking Stuffer for Your Pickle-Obsessed BFF
When it comes to holiday gift giving, it's easy to find yourself in a pickle. Okay, puns aside, pickle lip balm is here and it's the stocking stuffer you never knew you needed. Believe it or not, Etsy shop Blue Poppy Bath & Body’s best-selling item is dill pickle-scented chapstick. It’s promoted as the perfect gift for your friend with serious pregnancy cravings, but really any pickle-obsessed person will fall in love with this product.
After seeing how much people love this salve on Etsy and Amazon, I had to check it out for myself. Blue Poppy’s lip balm has eight ingredients: sweet almond oil, avocado oil, shea butter, beeswax, cocoa butter, castor oil, vitamin C, and “flavor oil." I'm pretty sure the “flavor oil” is the sharp, sour (but surprisingly not too overpowering!) pickle smell I noticed when I swiped it on. The other ingredients helped make my lips feel smooth and nourished, so even though it's basically a gag gift, it's actually functional.
I'm not the only one who's sold. Take it from other pickle lip balm owners: "I got this as a gift for my friend who loves pickles," wrote one five star reviewer. "She loves it and says it smells just like pickles!" Another claims she can taste the pickles in this tiny tube. And one Amazon buyer called it "a pickle lover's dream."
So next time I have a pickle hankering, I'm definitely going to reach for this chapstick (before heading to the deli, of course). And if you're looking for more Christmas gift ideas for the pickle lover in your life, I have good news: Etsy shop AJSweetSoap offers pickle soap, which would make a cute addition to the guest bathroom during a barbecue or baby shower. Or make your affinity for pickles known throughout your home with an ornament or scented candle. Whatever your pick, the holidays will be anything but sour.
