In the heartwrenching footage, Gardner is seen wiping away tears in his patrol car at the scene of the accident, which was caused by icy roads.

“How are you driving your vehicle?” Gardner added, in a moment that demonstrates just how much the trooper cares about his community. “What are you doing to keep yourself as safe as you can for what can be taking place around you?”
A winter storm hit Kansas on Tuesday, bringing snow, ice, and high winds. Ashlen Leigh Lemon, 19, was killed when she lost control of her vehicle and hit a guardrail, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.
Gardner addressed the amount of support and love he has received from sharing the video. He tweeted, “Thank you to so many that have contacted me following my video of the ‘significant crash’ that took the life of a young lady…. While I’m fine, the family of this young lady I’m sure isn’t,” adding, “Please focus on her. Focus on her family. Focus on her community.”
