Fans certainly thought so after backstage footage of the "Savage" rapper seemingly telling off the NSYNC alum went viral during the popular awards show.
"Megan Thee Stallion and Justin Timberlake appear to be arguing backstage at the 2023 #VMAs," one account on X (formerly Twitter) theorized. Another chimed in, "Did Justin Timberlake say something to piss off Megan Thee Stallion? We still haven’t forgiven you for what you did to Janet Jackson. Do we have a problem?"
However, it seems the encounter wasn't as heated as viewers believed, as multiple reports are now claiming the exchange to be a rather sweet one. According to an Entertainment Tonight source, the Trolls actor said, "It's so nice to meet you."
It's said Megan responded with, "No, no this don't count, this don't count, we gotta meet proper."
A similar account was shared with Variety, additionally noting, "It was very cute."

A second insider confirmed to ET, "Meg loves Justin. She was saying 'No, no, no, we've never met before.' It was their first time meeting and she was excited."
Although, not everyone is quick to accept this report as fact, as several fans have since expressed their doubt on social media. "Yeah not what it looked like," one fan chimed in.
