Tupelo splash pads open for summer
TUPELO — As the sweltering days of summer approach, the All-America City has once again opened its popular water attractions for families to beat the heat.
All Tupelo splash pads are now open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. through the end of summer.
The city has three splash pads within city parks, including at Rob Leake City Park, Theron Nichols Park and Veterans Memorial Park. The splash pads will be open full-time after Memorial Day weekend, and the popular C.C. Augustus Swimming pool will open on June 1.
Previously, the city operated the slash pads only on the weekend and during the weekday specifically for school visits. The pad at Rob Leake City Park also stayed closed longer for repairs following an incident last year. It is now open, along with the other facilities.
Last July, two of the three splash pads closed for the season for repairs after the control panel at Rob Leake City Park was destroyed by lighting and the Veterans Memorial Park control panel failed because of age. Those repairs have since been completed.
