Turns Out Prince Harry and Prince William Still “Aren’t Talking That Much”
Update on exactly where Prince Harry and Prince William stand amid their ongoing tension: Apparently, the brothers still aren’t particularly in touch, with Finding Freedom coauthor Omid Scobie saying their relationship is “one of distance” and that they are not in regular communication.
“The relationship between Harry and William is still very much one of distance,” Scobie explained during an interview with Entertainment Tonight. “I don’t just mean physical [distance], across the Atlantic, but they are not talking that much, and that is exactly how sources close to William have put it.”
Scobie explained that there are “still feelings of anger” in the royal family over the way Meghan and Harry “carried out their departure from their royal lives” and that William in particular “has not been able to come to terms with [it] yet.”
While William and Harry are able to put aside their differences for important events—like next year’s Royal Jubilee—Scobie explains that “unfortunately, that has not led to any sort of bigger movement. These are still two brothers who aren’t in regular communication, or in much communication at all, and I think they remain on these very different paths.”
“They are very different men,” he adds. “And I think that William has certainly become someone who is really living his life for the crown, for the institution. Harry has really sort of gone completely in the opposite direction. They will never see eye to eye, and until both sides can acknowledge that, they will never move forward.”
In order to move forward, Scobie says, “there’s gonna have to be an effort where they step outside that and actually make time to talk properly. Otherwise, we’re gonna stay in this situation for a very long time.”
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been rumored to want to christen their daughter, Lilibet, in England, so hopefully the families will be able to come together during this special occasion.
