"Twilight" Writer Stephenie Meyer Announces "Midnight Sun" is Finally Coming Out
The wait is finally over! Twilight fans are rejoicing all around the world (yes, even me!) after hearing about the news of a brand new book in the series.
After crashing her website, fans finally got the news when it was announced on Good Morning America and Little, Brown Books for Young Reader's official NOVL page that Midnight Sun is finally coming out as its own book.
"It's a crazy time right now and I wasn't sure if this was the right time to put this book out, but some of you have been waiting for just so, so long. It didn't seem fair to make you wait anymore. Sorry about the bad timing. Hopefully this book can be a distraction from the real world," Stephenie said while appearing on Good Morning America.
The book is a companion to the first novel in the series and will follow Edward's point of view of everything that went down in Twilight. The book has been years in the making as it was originally set to be released years ago, but a major leak had put the project on pause.
Many fans were speculating that Stephenie was going to release the new book after a countdown was posted on her website. Some fans even managed to figure out the announcement early with some sleuthing.
Fans who were trying to access Stephenie's website were met with constant crashing as they tried to see what the news was about.
In a new interview with USA Today, Stephenie says that the book is a lot darker than the first.
"It’s definitely darker, and I would say more desperate," she said. "The stakes are way higher from [Edward's] perspective. I think people are not going to maybe have anticipated exactly what Edward was thinking and doing when he wasn’t onscreen, so to speak. I don’t know if it will be the Edward that they imagined. I think it might be an Edward that’s a lot different than that."
Fans can already pre-order the book. Midnight Sun is set to be released on August 8.
