Twin Tiers pool and swimming hours for summer 2024

TWIN TIERS REGION (WETM) — Summer is almost here, and one of the best ways to cool down when temperatures rise is to take a swim.

Below is a list of some pools and waterfronts around the Twin Tiers that are open to the public for swimming. The list will be updated as more information about different swimming locations becomes available.

Chemung County

Harris Hill Pool

  • Open from June 15 through mid-August

  • Open from noon to 7 p.m. on weekdays and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekends

  • Weather or staffing issues could impact the pool’s hours

  • Fees are available on Chemung County’s website

Park Station

  • Waterfront is open from June 15 through Labor Day

  • Swimming available from noon to 6 p.m.

West Elmira Pool

  • Open from July 1 through Aug. 25

  • Open swim from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. on weekdays, and from noon to 7:45 p.m. on weekends

  • Adult swim from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays

  • Fees and pool rules are available on the Town of Elmira’s website

Sullivan Park (Thorne Street) Pool

Schuyler County

Clute Park

  • Swimming at the public beach is open everyday starting on June 14

  • Open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

  • Weather or staffing issues could impact swimming hours

  • Swimming is not allowed when there isn’t a lifeguard on duty

  • Parking fees can be found on the Seneca Lakes Event Center website

Watkins Glen State Park Pool

  • Open from June 29 through Labor Day

  • Open from noon to 6 p.m. on weekdays and 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekends

  • Dates and hours are subject to change

    • Contact the park office by calling 607-535-4511 to make sure the pool is open before visiting

  • Parking costs $10 per vehicle and includes pool access, and bus fees are available on the state park’s webpage

Watkins Glen State Park Gorge Trail now open

Steuben County

James Street Pool (Veterans Memorial Park)

  • Open daily

  • Open from 12:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

  • Costs $0.75 for Hornell residents and $1.50 for non-residents

  • Free on weekends all summer courtesy of the Hornell Elks Lodge

  • Pool schedule available on the Hornell Area Family YMCA’s website

Tioga County, Pa.

Mansfield Borough Pool

  • Opened for the season on June 10

  • Open from noon to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays

  • The pool may close due to the weather or lack of attendance

Tompkins County

Robert H. Treman State Park

Buttermilk Falls State Park

  • Swimming hole opens on June 29 and will close by Labor Day

  • Open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekends, may be open on select weekdays

  • Swimming availability is dependent on the weather

  • Park staff strongly recommend calling the park at 607-273-5761 to make sure swimming is open before traveling

  • Parking fees can be found on the park’s webpage

Cass Park Pool

  • Opens on June 28

  • Open from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays and 12:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on weekends

  • Fees can be found on the park’s website
