Twitter blasts Trump Jr. for saying Bill Clinton is claiming 'victim-hood' for Monica Lewinsky affair
Former President Bill Clinton got the internet talking this week when an interview with Today took a nasty turn.
Given the current climate of movements such as #MeToo and #TimesUp, the conversation led to his infamous affair with Monica Lewinsky. When asked if he had personally apologized to Lewinsky, Clinton stumbled through his answer, revealing he has not spoken with her.
Twitter users quickly lit up with comments about the awkward exchange. Some defended the former president, while others were disappointed with his response.
Donald Trump Jr. also chimed in with a critical examination of Clinton’s response.
The businessman, and son to President Trump, was quickly called out for his statement. Many Twitter users found irony in Trump Jr.’s tweet given his father’s many examples of “victim-hood” pertaining to women.
They cited the multiple women who have accused his father of sexual misconduct. They mentioned the senior Trump’s alleged affair with adult film star Stormy Daniels. They recalled many of the now president's comments about women over the years.
The internet largely agreed: Trump Jr. had no business commenting on the #MeToo movement or Clinton’s remarks.
