Twitter Is Reeling Over Lady Gaga's Oscar Nomination Snub

Despite the nonstop press tour, the countless magazine covers, and the never-ending social media commotion, Lady Gaga will not be at the 94th annual Academy Awards this year.

When the Oscar nominations were released this morning, fans of the star immediately noticed that she was not among the Best Actress contenders—the list instead includes Nicole Kidman (Being the Ricardos), Olivia Colman (The Lost Daughter), Jessica Chastain (The Eyes of Tammy Faye), Kristen Stewart (Spencer), and Penélope Cruz (Parallel Mothers). Gaga had been considered a shoo-in for her performance as Patrizia Reggiani in Ridley Scott's House of Gucci, a role that has garnered major film award nods throughout the circuit.

While promoting the film, Gaga regularly spoke about how passionately she had prepared for her role as the convicted widow of Maurizio Gucci.

"With Patrizia, it was much easier for me to stay in character all the time. When I called my mother, when I called my father. … The way that I would explain it to you is if I were to call you on the phone, I would have spoken to you just like this [speaks in Patrizia's accent]. I wouldn't have pretended that I'm Patrizia; you just would have been like, 'Oh, f--k, I'm on the phone with Patrizia,'" she said during an interview with Stephen Colbert last year. "My point is that I really wanted to do a good job, and staying in character for me was essential. And I'm not saying that that's the way to do it. It's just how I do it."

Below, some of the best Twitter reactions to the snub.
