Ty Pennington Will Make His HGTV Debut Next Month With New Show 'Ty Breaker'
Ty Pennington is getting his own home makeover show!
The 56-year-old carpenter and designer, who became a household name through his roles on TLC's Trading Spaces and the original Extreme Makeover: Home Edition series, will headline his own feel-good home renovation series on HGTV this January. Except, there’s a little bit of a twist: Pennington will also be in competition with another designer during each episode.
Pennington's new series, aptly named Ty Breaker, will premiere on January 11, 2021, on HGTV. This eight-episode series follows Pennington as he helps well-deserving families find their dream home. However, each family he works with must make a big decision: do they want to revamp their existing home, or move on to an entirely different home to renovate?
This is where his co-stars—Alison Victoria of Windy City Rehab, Grace Mitchell of One of a Kind, and Sabrina Soto of The High Low Project—come in. In each episode, Pennington will encourage the family to stay put in their original homes. Meanwhile, this rotating cast of co-stars will be pushing the family to give up their home and start renovations on an all-new property. The show ultimately poses the question: can certain style and design upgrades make a home feel brand new to a family? Or is parting ways with an old home the only way to get a fresh start?
"I can’t wait for folks to watch Ty Breaker! I loved meeting so many awesome families and helping them decide on their future home," Pennington told HGTV in a statement about his new series. “I’m doing all I can to sway them to stay in their current digs by adding some spectacular upgrades, but Alison, Grace, and Sabrina are amazing renovators, designers, and competitors—they know how to win!"
You can catch Ty Breaker on Monday, January 11, at 9 p.m. ET on HGTV. You can also watch more of Pennington on Deluxe's Small Business Revolution which he co-hosts with Amanda Brinkman (stream it on Hulu here).
