Uma Thurman on Harvey Weinstein and sexual misconduct in Hollywood: 'When I’m ready, I’ll say what I have to say'
As the number of people coming forward with allegations of harassment and sexual assault against men in Hollywood continues to grow, many actors have related their own experiences.
When asked, at the press event of her new Broadway play, what she thought about women in the industry speaking out against "inappropriate behavior" in the workplace, Uma Thurman said: "I think it's commendable."
"I have learned, I am not a child and I have learned that… when I’ve spoken in anger, I usually regret the way I express myself. So I’ve been waiting to feel less angry. And when I’m ready, I’ll say what I have to say," she continued.
More than 90 women, including Italian actor Asia Argento, British actor Lysette Anthony, and American actors Gwyneth Paltrow and Angelina Jolie, have accused producer Harvey Weinstein of sexual assault and harassment.
Thurman worked with Weinstein and his Miramax production company seven times on films such as the Quentin Tarantino action thrillers Kill Bill and Pulp Fiction.
Weinstein is currently under investigation by police in New York, Los Angeles, Beverly Hills and the UK for sexual assault accusations. The former Hollywood producer has denied any claims of non-consensual sex.
In recent weeks, allegations against a number of other high-profile figures in Hollywood including Kevin Spacey and Dustin Hoffman have also come to light.
While the interview with Thurman took place several weeks ago, the clip has just gone viral after Argento shared it on social media.
