UMMM, Someone Bought a Massive $400,000 Ring at Costco
Costco really is a one-stop shop. You can pick up cheap booze, a 7-pound tub of Nutella, and a $400,000 engagement ring all at once. That seems like a total normal way to spend your Saturday, right?
According to CNBC, the discount retailer saw a quite profit bump last quarter after a mystery customer bought a pricey diamond ring. Yep, someone dropped nearly half a million dollars on Costco bling. I guess a congrats are in order?
Costco's same-store sales were reportedly up 5.6 percent and total revenue increased by 7.4 percent. Which, translation, means they earned a whopping $34.74 billion.
We're pretty sure we've found the ring online. Though we don't have any official confirmation this is the one, it's the only one that nears the 400k figure. It's listed online as "Round Brilliant 10.03 ct VS1 Clarity, I Color Diamond Platinum Solitaire Ring." TBH, that kind of sounds like a foreign language, but to put it in perspective there's this: Kim K's is 20 carats. So yes, this is nearly half the size, but think about how ginormous Kardashian-West's rock is. But we'd still need to eat a lot of Costco Chicken Bake to save up for one.
The diamond ring, which retails for a cool $419,999.99 by the way, was inspected by a team of Graduate Gemologists to "ensure it meets the strictest quality standards in the industry in cut, color, clarity, and craftsmanship," the site promises.
