Finding a breathable face mask can be challenging. Some covers don't fit well, while others are made with cloying material. But wearing a mask is one of the few ways we can stop the spread of the novel coronavirus, which makes finding one you like vital.

Having tried several face masks over the past few months, I had almost given up hope for finding that perfect covering that not only made me feel safe, but also felt comfortable enough that I wouldn't mind wearing a mask in the hot summer heat. The struggle was real, especially with my limited budget, until this past weekend when I finally found the mask that I'd recommend for anyone—even athletes.

Uniqlo just released its AIRism face mask, and honestly, I can never go back to plain cotton masks again. I noticed a difference compared to other masks within seconds of putting it on. The face mask material is lightweight, so you barely feel like there's anything on your face. While wearing the mask outside for several hours this past weekend, I was able to breathe easy and talk to people without even thinking about the mask on my face. And best of all, I didn't sweat—which happens in every mask I own.

Here's how Uniqlo created such a great product: The first layer is made of their AIRism mesh, the same moisture-wicking material used in the company's performance wear. The material absorbs odor, dries quickly, and is easily the most breathable fabric I've experienced. A filter makes up the second layer, which is followed by another layer of AIRism. The mask also has a UPF 40 rating, meaning it blocks 90 percent of ultraviolet rays. Plus, they're washable, meaning you can use the masks for as long as they hold up. I haven't used this mask for running outside yet, but it's so light that I bet it rivals my current go-to: The UA SPORTSMASK.

The mask is available starting today, August 24th and is available in three different colors and sizes. Even better, a three-pack costs less than $15 in-store or on the Uniqlo website.
