'I usually shower 3 to 4 times a day': Ashley Benson on her obsession with showering and why she keeps her personal life private
Ashley Benson takes her showers seriously. The actress and Olay spokesperson tells Yahoo Lifestyle, “I live in New York, part-time in L.A., but mainly New York, and it’s so humid and gross, so I end up showering like four times a day.
“I’m just sweating all the time,” she says of life in the Big Apple. “You work out, and then you shower. You walk around, and the second you walk outside — I usually walk everywhere — it’s miserable, and I’m sweating all day, so I usually shower three to four times a day, just because I feel gross.” She’s an avid user of Olay products, and the 28-year-old says partnering with the brand to promote the new Foaming Whip body wash was a natural fit. “I’m a fan of Olay, and this is a fun body wash, with the foam and the great scents,” she says. “[It] makes me want to stay in the shower a little longer!” she shared on Instagram.
Benson is no stranger to social media, and to being in the public eye (she’s just appeared in the movie “Her Smell”). However, she admits that she prefers to keep her personal life private, especially when it comes to relationships: “I’ve never been a big person to flaunt people I’ve dated, just because I like to keep that stuff private.” She says she feels that way because her professional life comes with so much exposure.
“I hate being photographed — I hate all that stuff — it actually gives me severe anxiety.” She explains that it’s an uncomfortable feeling and that seeing paparazzi sneak photos of her only makes it worse. “It just doesn’t make you feel comfortable. Nobody really wants to be followed around by a bunch of men taking your photos. It’s not the best feeling in the world.”
However, while she says the lack of privacy is one downside of being in the entertainment industry, she reveals that her confidence came with age. “You just have to be super comfortable with who you are, and I am now, as I get older.”
