'Utterly tasteless': People are freaking out over Victoria and David Beckham's kids shooting water guns in British Vogue
The brood dubbed “Britain’s second royal family” by British Vogue editor in chief Edward Enninful has scored quite the coup: an October cover shoot for the esteemed fashion magazine.
Victoria and David Beckham (forever and ever Posh and Becks) and their four children are the stars of British Vogue’s October issue, with two covers and an inside fashion spread devoted to the famous family.

And while there’s plenty to ogle — Mummy and Daddy’s smoldering subscribers cover, the former Spice Girl’s comments about “nonsense” breakup rumors, that adorable dog — some readers are fixated on one image in particular. And no, it’s not because a certain athlete is rocking socks and sandals.

One group shot captured by photographer Mikael Jansson shows Victoria, David, and their dog, Olive, looking on as the four Beckham kids — 19-year-old Brooklyn, 16-year-old Romeo, 13-year-old Cruz, and 7-year-old Harper — aim large water guns at each other.
Though some may see it as an ordinary family moment, many have criticized the shoot for showing the kids armed with toy water guns. (Firearms are strictly licensed and governed in the U.K., which has a low rate of gun homicides.)
“Why the guns?” read one comment on British Vogue’s Instagram page.
“Use of guns is utterly tasteless,” wrote a critic.
“The use of any type of gun is tragic,” added a commenter. “Disappointed.”
“Fake guns but really, did you need to use guns as props?” read a comment on Victoria’s Instagram page.
“How can she smile if she has her son pointing a weapon to her head?” one of her followers added in response to comments remarking on the fashion designer’s pouty expression. “What a tasteless photo.”
But others have praised the photo as playful and “family goals,” accusing critics of being overly sensitive.
“We have reached peak snowflake,” wrote one commenter regarding the backlash. “All you utter pathetic losers criticizing cos the kids are using water guns. OMG get over yourselves you losers; water guns are used by kids in the summer universally. They’re having fun. There’s [sic] no gun shootings in the U.K. cos they actually have proper laws. You’re pathetic.”
In other Beckham news, the magazine includes Victoria weighing in about rumors that she and her former soccer star husband are planning to split up.
“People have been making things up about our relationship for 20 years, so David and I are pretty used to ignoring the nonsense and just carrying on as normal,” she told British Vogue.
“But these things have a wider effect on the people around us, and that’s unfair.”
