Véronique Leroy RTW Spring 2018

Véronique Leroy always likes to play with the borderlines of taste, and in a season of celebrating the strange, and things that are a bit off, she was in her element.

Her skin-baring summery looks came in strange mixes of colors and fabrics, pairing lilac and mustard, say, or mint and pale yellow, and a run of lace capes, sarongs and minis with fringes, which added swing.

Mauve waffle knits with matching knickers recalled the homemade wool kits of yore, and the bright mustard terry toweling pants were equally retro. The more wearable looks were the denim items in a pale marbly print recalling scrunched paper.

She pushed the story line onto the details like weird retro Seventies-style square buttons which were echoed on the shoe buckles.

Leroy played on the logo, with her name spelled out in bold scrawls across looks, also forming prints, or in initials in old-school fonts embroidered on tops, which felt fitting in a collection so true to her spirit.
