Valerie Bertinelli Gives Inspiring Health Update as She Goes 'Down Another Jean Size'

Valerie Bertinelli continues to prioritize self-care.

The actress-turned-Food Network star showed how much her health—both physical and mental—has changed since she's focused on herself amid her divorce from Tom Vitale.

"So it's getting about time for me to probably go down another jean size. I can't believe it," she said in a video shared on Instagram."This all started back in November once I got free and I really started concentrating on my emotional and physical health. And when I started doing that, I started caring about the nutrition that I put in my body more."

Bertinelli elaborated further on her journey in the caption.

"Back in November, I really started concentrating on my emotional and mental health. The harsh words and abuse can never be unheard and taken back, but here's the thing, I wouldn't have taken them in and believed them in the first place, if I hadn't been saying harsh and unkind words to myself first," she wrote.

She noted that she's been talking about self-care for the past year and has been caring more about nutrition; not counting calories but instead thinking about whether what she's eating is making her feel better.

Bertinelli ended her message by writing, "I have cut back exponentially on alcohol and I'm sure that has helped with releasing the weight I was carrying for protection. And it did protect me. I'm grateful for that. I don't need protection any longer. I'm really starting to love myself. Deep down. All this to say I have a lot to talk about and will continue to do so. Thank you for coming on this journey with me. Please be kind to yourselves. You deserve it. We all do. We are enough."

Her fans appreciated her candid post and applauded her for prioritizing her health.

"Amazing when we focus on health (both mental & physical)…NOT WEIGHT. ??," commented a fan. Another wrote, "Proud of you Val! ?? Being once married to a narcissist myself, it’s definitely liberating to be done with them and start to love yourself and heal. It’s a wonderful feeling!"

The One Day at a Time alum's optimistic attitude matches the one she shared in her 2022 memoir, Enough Already: Learning to Love the Way I Am Today, in which she processed her self-worth and gave fans insight into how she bounced back from life's challenges.
