Valerie Bertinelli Mourns Cooking Show as She Announces Cancelation
The TV personality confirmed her show will end after 14 seasons.
Valerie Bertinelli is saying goodbye to something that has been "one of the huge joys" in her life.
The TV personality divulged in an emotional Instagram video that after 14 seasons, her Food Network show Valerie's Home Cooking will be ending, as she announced the premiere date of the final installment.
"I got some good news, and I got some bad news," Bertinelli said in the social media clip posted April 8. After sharing the "good news" that the 14th season of Valerie’s Home Cooking starts airing all new episodes on April 9 at noon, the actress continued, opening up about why the show won't continue.
"Food network cancelled us last summer," the One Day at a Time alum expressed, adding, "I have no idea why. I didn’t say anything last summer because honestly, I was hoping they would change their mind. But they have not, so um, this is it. This is the final season.”
“I have loved making this show. It was such a dream come true. Every single part of it brought me so much joy. I loved the crew; I loved everybody in production. They loved making this show for you. So I hope you enjoy this final season, because we made every single episode with love for all of you," her announcement concluded.
Valerie’s Home Cooking initially premiered on Food Network in 2015 and has been running ever since.
"It has been one of the huge joys in my life to bring you this sweet little show, and I wish it wasn’t so, but the final season of Valerie‘s Home Cooking start airing tomorrow on @foodnetworkWe loved making every single episode for you ?? and I will really, really miss it. In the comments, fellow celebs and fans of the show expressed how they felt about the cancelation news.
Fellow cook and Food Network personality Sunny Anderson let her know she wasn't alone, encouraging: "Oh honey bunny, I know the feeling of a cooking show cut... but I also know the feeling of something else greater you couldn't imagine coming next! Wishing you well and it's surely not the last we will see of your talents!!
Reba alum Melissa Peterman said, in part, "I can personally attest to the fact that Valerie's Home Cooking is the most delicious food I have put in my mouth. AND Valerie's kitchen is the happiest place to be (it smells like all of your favorite things live there) PLUS there is no one I would rather eat, drink and laugh with."
Cooking show host Ree Drummond gushed, "Love you so much, Valerie!! I will be watching every episode and enjoying every second—and will of course watch you wherever your career and life take you. Thank you for sharing so much of yourself for so many years. I know I don’t have to tell you that I’m a Valerie B. fan for life.??"
"Too many competitive shows and not true cooking shows anymore," one social media user wrote, as another agreed: "There's a couple other shows I would love to have them cancel, but not yours! I always enjoyed your show a lot!"
"I will miss watching you. Hope you leaving is your choice and not the networks. Not pleased with them as it is. Enjoy your life and hope you get to do everything that was on hold before," another disappointed viewer penned.
One even questioned, "Can we write Food Network to complain? Sorry but some shows on Food Network are not good. ??," while a fifth added, "Nooooo! What is Food Network thinking? Love your show!!!! I have made sooo many of your recipes! ??"
Maybe another cooking show at a different network is brewing in Valerie's future? Only time will tell!
