Valerie Bertinelli Reflects on the 'Hardest 6 Years' in Birthday Post
Valerie Bertinelli shared a very candid post honoring her 63rd birthday on Sunday.
Alongside a video of the One Day at a Time alum spinning a piece of luggage between her legs while waiting at an airport in Amsterdam, Bertinelli opened up about what she said has been the "hardest six years" of her life.
"I am so over the moon grateful on my birthday this year! ??????," she began the caption of Sunday's post. "I have survived the hardest six years of my life and now I’m in Amsterdam (one of my favorite places on earth with sweet special memories ??)."
Though the actress didn't detail the exact experiences that have left her to claim the past six years as the most tumultuous, fans in the comments of the post presumed the TV personality was alluding to the multiple difficulties she's recently faced in her personal life.

In 2016, the actress lost her father, and nearly four years later, she was rocked by news of the passing of her ex-husband Eddie Van Halen–with whom she shares her adult son, Wolfgang Van Halen–in 2020. More recently, though, her divorce from Tom Vitale and the cancelation of her TV show, Valerie's Home Cooking, may have only added to the stress.
Despite how trying the last few years have been, the Hot in Cleveland star didn't let the unforeseen circumstances take her optimism.
"And on Thursday, I get to watch my son open for Metallica! ?????? ??," Bertinelli's statement continued, concluding with a simple "Life is good. ?."
Her followers were just as elated for her, sharing sweet birthday wishes and notes cheering on her son's achievements in the comments.
"EDDIE IS SCREAMING FROM HEAVEN 'ROCK N ROLL SON!!!!' ENJOY PROUD MOMMA!!!!" one Instagram user exclaimed in part.
"happy birthday valerie! you deserve happiness and love ?? i hope your upcoming week goes amazing," another gushed.
Happy belated birthday, Valerie! We hope this year is the best one yet.
