As demonstrated by Victoria Beckham herself as she took to the runway for the show’s finale this morning, the ponytail is back with a vengeance for AW16 – though for Beckham, the ponytail never really went away.

In the hair extension-strewn backstage, Guido Palau used GHD and Redken to create the look, which he called “What real women do with their hair.”

“We’ve kind of defined the beauty look over the few seasons Victoria Beckham has been showing,” said Palau. ”She has really established her beauty identity. It’s key for any designer to really implement their beauty identity, because when a girl goes out on the runway, that’s the key to understanding her message about her woman.”

Palau used GHD’s Aura hairdryer to blast the hair away from the head along with Redken’s Pillowproof, creating what he called “a very dramatic head shape.”

Over in the exceptionally overcrowded make-up room, Pat McGrath’s team used Max Factor to apply a rusty lip and a light bronze eye to models’ faces.
