Some Veggie Ramen Is Being Recalled Due To Listeria Concerns Because It Contains Hard Boiled Egg
A type of packaged vegetable ramen is being recalled after concerns it might be contaminated with listeria.
Veggie Noodle Co., LLC is voluntarily recalling its Cece’s Veggie Co. brand Fresh Veggie Ramen with Chicken Broth because the separately packaged egg that’s included in the ramen has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced late last week. All expiration dates of the ramen are being recalled, but no other Cece’s brand products are impacted, the FDA notes.
Cece’s Veggie Co. says on its website that the recall is happening “out of an abundance of caution” and was sparked by a recall by Almark Foods, which provides eggs for the ramen. As of now, Veggie Noodle hasn’t received reports of any illnesses linked to the recalled ramen.
Listeria monocytogenes can cause high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea in otherwise healthy people, the FDA says, but it can also cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and people with weakened immune systems. Listeria infections can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths for pregnant women, the FDA says.
If you have this ramen in your fridge, Veggie Noodle recommends throwing it out or returning it to the store where you bought it for a full refund. Also, if you have any questions about the recall, you can call Veggie Noodle at (512) 200-3337 or email them at [email protected].
