Victorville Animal Care and Control seeks volunteers to foster shelter animals

Victorville Animal Care and Control officials are on the prowl for volunteers to provide foster homes for shelter animals.

The agency is in need of volunteers for both short-term fostering over weekends, as well as longer duration fostering, Victorville city officials said in a written statement.

"Fostering is an important part of helping animals receive social interaction to maintain their health and keep them adoptable," according to the statement.

The length of long-term fostering may vary based on volunteer availability and the needs of the animals, but will not exceed one year, officials said.

All necessary supplies will be provided, including food, vaccinations, crates, puppy pads and veterinary visits, if required, officials said.

Animal Care and Control representatives can bring a foster animal to volunteers' homes, if requested. Animals in the foster program remain available for adoption.
