New video games coming out this week | Football Manager 2018, Need for Speed: Payback and Sonic Forces
The winter video game release juggernaut rolls on. While we might not have anything quite as massive as Call of Duty: WW2 (at least until next week and Star Wars Battlefront 2), this week will still see three pretty significant releases. And varied as well, from dugout simulation, to cinematic car chases to yet another questionable Sonic game, there is plenty to choose from. And if you are after shiny new hardware, the Xbox One X is also released this week.
Super Lucky's Tale (Xbox One, PC, 7 November) - Out now!
Super Lucky's Tale is significant as one of the few brand new releases arriving with the Xbox One X. Well, kind of. This is actually an expansion of the Oculus Rift VR platformer, minus the VR and plus a whole new set of levels. Our plucky fox hero must save the world from the evil Kitty Litter. If it all sounds a bit N64-era platform game, that's because it very much is.

Sonic Forces (PS4, Xbox One, 7 November) - Out now!
With the success of retro-style Sonic Mania earlier this year, the speedy blue hedgehog's stock has risen to its highest level in a while. The question is, will Sonic Forces continue that trend or send it hurtling back to Earth? If nothing else, Sonic Force certainly sounds ... intriguing, with a grimdark story about Dr. Robotnik taking over the world and capturing our hero. You get to play as classic Sonic, a la Generations, and also create your own avatar. It sounds like a mishmash of elements that might just be crazy enough to work. But don't hold us to that.

Football Manager 2018 (PC, 10 November) - Out now!
The latest in Sports Interactive's brilliant management simulation takes its seat in the dugout this week. It looks to be a significant overhaul this year too, with new squad dynamics having an impact on the dressing room atmosphere, improved scouting and backroom staff feedback and an overhaul to the match engine provided by strategy maestros Creative Assembly.

Need for Speed: Payback (PS4, Xbox One, PC, 10 November) - Out now!
Ghost Games are looking to revitalise the Need for Speed series by taken a leaf out of The Fast and Furious' playbook. This is a narrative-lead, open-world racer that follows a group of drivers looking to take down "The House" in the pretty surroundings of Fortuna Valley. It looks wonderfully silly and a lot of fun, while the car handling looks snappy and satisfying.
