Video: JJF and Friends Surf the North Shore on a Beautifully Windy Day
You've probably heard by now that Pipeline has been absolutely firing.
Pro surfers on the North Shore for the Lexus Pipe Pro got lucky and scored an abundance of perfect barrels at all-time Pipe.
But John John Florence did something different. Instead of more perfect Pipe, he found beauty last weekend in less than favorable conditions but still had tons of fun. He shares it with the world in his latest vlog below.
Florence captioned the video above, writing:
"AIR WIND (Nathan, Gabriel, Jack, Noah, JJF)
"I thought it would be fun to share some waves from this weekend in slow motion. To me it has always been interesting to see the small details when it’s all slowed down."
"I've always really enjoyed days like these when the winds change and we get to look at a wave that we surf all the time in a different way."
The video's just over six minutes of pure surfing without dialogue and classical music as the soundtrack.
Around halfway through, John shares his thoughts on the screen.
"It was fun to have Nate and Noah, Gabriel and Jack out there in these conditions.
"It's cool to see how everyone's approach changes with the air wind. There's not as much ability to predict what each wave will do, so it kind of forces you to surf more on instant and be reactive to the different sections that pop up.
"Maybe all wind is good wind?"
