Viral video of person licking airplane toilet seat disgusts the internet: 'I'm deeply concerned'

Having to use an airplane bathroom is one of the necessary evils of traveling. On top of the ominous warning to not flush while seated, airplane bathrooms are chock full of germs.

Despite bathrooms on board being disinfected overnight and in between long flights, at least 50 people use the same bathroom a trip, and people generally feel the need to use it, on average, 2.4 times a flight. Dr. Charles Gerba, a microbiologist at the University of Arizona, told Time that he found fecal coliform E. coli on some sinks, flush handles and toilet seats he tested.

So why would someone purposefully lick an airplane toilet seat and then share the video online? Because the internet is a dark, awful place. Who knew this would happen on August 6, 1991, when the internet first went live to the world?

Naturally, people had a lot to say about the video — mostly “what?!” and “why?!”

One Twitter user went on to say, “Everyday we stray away from god,” while others tagged their unsuspecting friends so they could also be disgusted.

The original poster, @grimiestt, informed their followers that they’re in Barcelona after the flight. They explained the video further by tweeting, “guys u can’t come onto my page n get surprised when I do disgusting s*** it is literally my brand lol i wasn’t f***ing joking when I chose the name grimy.”

They added, “if u don’t all come to my funeral when I inevitably die of whatever deathly disease ur so concerned I caught lickin that toilet ur fake”
