The Voice of an Angel Saved Her Life: Read Her Inspiring Story

When Woman’s World reader Lorrie Nixon was in a terrible car accident, an angel’s voice brought her comfort until rescuers arrived. She writes:

When my friend invited me to a production at a local playhouse, I happily accepted. After the play, we circled the maze of streets, searching for the restaurant we had chosen. I began to feel uneasy and heard an inner voice repeat, “Go home!” So I suggested that we find a place closer to home.

“Let’s go around one more time,” my friend said. Suddenly, a truck slammed into our car, spinning us in slow motion across the intersection. The headlights blinded us, the windows shattered and the metal around us crumpled. I closed my eyes.

When everything fell silent, I couldn’t move. My legs were pinned by the twisted frame. I began to drift off in my mind, and I heard the sounds of my family enjoying Friday night pizza. I heard the little-boy voices of my now-grown nephews laughing together.

“Wake up!” A voice cut through my haze, as the warmth of my family kept pulling me back away from the horrific scene.

A comforting hand grasped mine, and in a soft tone a man repeated, “Stay with me, you’re going to be okay.”

It was the most soothing presence that I have ever known. “Don’t worry,” he said. “The police are coming.”

Firefighters freed me with the jaws of life, and I awoke at the hospital with a smiling female police officer holding my hand. She said that she was the first to arrive at the accident scene.

I thanked her and added that I was also grateful for the man who had stayed with me.

“What man?” she asked, “Nobody was there when I arrived.” But I know that he was there. He was the one who first tried to warn me to go home. I know he was my guardian angel, and he gave me peace and protection when I needed him the most.
