'The Voice' Announced Its Season 16 Winner and We're Shocked
And The Voice season 16 winner is…Maelyn Jarmon!
It’s been quite the roller coaster the past few weeks as The Voice narrowed down the contenders from 8, to 4, to finally revealing the winner in tonight’s episode. But Maelyn's title is well deserved, as she earned America’s votes through performances like "The Scientist" and "Hallelujah."
Many were shocked when the finalists were originally revealed, as some expected frontrunners like Jej Vinson and Shawn Sounds to have lasted the entire competition. But the vocal stylings of Maelyn, Andrew Sevener, Dexter Roberts, and Gyth Rigdon ended up the fans' favorites, and they went head-to-head in this week’s last performances. But it was Maelyn who came out on top, and coach John Legend couldn’t be more thrilled. Gyth, Dexter, and Andrew came in second, third, and fourth places, respectively.
As for Adam Levine, Kelly Clarkson, and Blake Shelton, they’ll have to try again in season 17, as all four are returning for the next round of the NBC show. Here’s hoping Adam and Kelly have better luck, as both of their teams were eliminated ahead of this year’s finale. As for Blake, who’s won more Voice titles than anyone, and John, who did pretty well for himself as the newbie, they better watch their backs-we bet Kelly and Adam are honing a new strategy as we speak.
Though we’re sad to see The Voice go for a few months, we’re excited to watch what Maelyn does next-and how she will spend her prize money.
