  • The new episode will feature never-before-seen footage of the contestants and coaches Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, Blake Shelton, and Nick Jonas.

  • Fans shared their mixed reactions on social media and also wondered how the coronavirus pandemic will affect the live shows, which will begin on May 4.

With the knockout rounds officially done, The Voice is gearing up for its highly anticipated live episodes. Before doing so, the hit NBC singing competition show is taking fans down memory lane — but not everyone is on board.

Airing on Monday night, “Road to Live Shows” is looking back at the best moments from the spring 2020 season. Described as an “original jam-packed special” hosted by Carson Daly, fans will see the full journey of the finalists starting from the blind auditions. What’s more, The Voice will also show never-before-seen footage of coaches Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, Blake Shelton, and Nick Jonas.

“Time to take a look behind the scenes of this season! ??,” the show's tweet declared. “Get to know #TheVoice in an all new way. ??," another post read.

Despite the show's enthusiasm for the special episode, Voice fans quickly took to social media with mixed reactions.

“Quit wasting airtime with a recap show that nobody watches ...” one person tweeted. “I sure hope [these are] new clips with the artists and not recycled clips and performances that have aired,” a viewer wrote.

On the flip side, a different fan said,“OMG YES!!! A full episode of this goofiness, silliness, and banter is exactly what the doctor ordered!!!!” Another added on Instagram,“Can’t wait, love the show so much!!! ??.”

But in the midst of their differing opinions, fans on both sides had one major question: “How are you going to do the live shows?? No audience?”

Luckily, coach Blake has shed some light on The Voice’s plan for live shows amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. After the winner from the first ever four-way knockout is revealed, the remaining contestants will compete for a spot in the top nine starting May 4.

“I think they have a plan and they’re gonna tell me when to be at the computer," he told Jimmy Fallon on April 13 about The Voice's plans to continue. "And I’ll listen to (contestants) I guess, perform, and give ‘em some pointers. I don’t know.”

We’ll just have to tune in to see exactly what The Voice has planned for us!
