‘The Voice’ Recap: Who Went Home and Who Made it Through to the Finale

The Voice results show for the season 24 semifinals happened tonight when the Top 9 learned which five of them would be going through and which four of them would be going home and not make it to the finale.
The Top 9 consisted of coach John Legend’s Lila Forde and Mac Royals; Reba McEntire’s Jacquie Roar, Jordan Rainer and Ruby Leigh; Gwen Stefani’s BIAS; and Niall Horan’s Huntley, Mara Justine, and Nini Iris.
The way the results worked was as follows: The artists with the Top 4 number of votes were automatically put through and then the remaining five had to sing in the Instant Save for America’s second vote and the final spot in the finale.

The night began with a collaboration between Niall and John on the title track from Niall’s new album The Show.
Then host Carson Daly called the Top 9 to the stage for the reveal of the first artist moving through to the finale.
The first finalist was Team Legend’s Lila Forde.
After some chit chat with the coaches and remaining artists, Carson revealed that the second artist going through to the finale was Team Niall’s Huntley.
Revealed third was Team Reba’s Ruby Leigh.
Next was an entertainment break with John performing “What Christmas Means to Me” from his A Legendary Christmas album.
After John and some more chit chat with the remaining six artists, Carson revealed the fourth finalist automatically going through on Monday night’s voice. It was Team Niall's Mara Justine.
The remaining five artists—BIAS, Jacquie Roar, Jordan Rainer, Mac Royals, and Nini Iris—will have to sing for the fifth and final spot in the finale.

Kicking off the Instant Save performances was Team Niall’s Nini Iris with Tears for Fears’ “Mad World.”
Niall said: “I can’t believe she’s in this position. I keep talking about her ability as an artist. We need to look past this show as well. We have a real artist here.”
Second, Team Gwen’s BIAS went authentic country with Vince Gill’s “Go Rest High on That Mountain.”
Gwen said: “That was so beautiful. So real, honest, pure, all the things you are. You are so talented.”
Next, Team Reba’s Jacquie Roar took the stage with her rendition of “Alone.”
Reba said: “Girl, as John would say, you were ‘sanging’ tonight. If America doesn’t vote you through, I don’t know what to think. You are good. You are professional. You are a star.”
Also from Team Reba was Jordan Rainer with her performance of Lee Brice’s “I Don’t Dance.”
Reba said: “For 4-feet 11-inches, you are a powerhouse, a force of nature. I have watched you through this competition and each time we see a different side of you.”
The final performance of the night was Team Legend’s Mac Royal with “I Want to Know.”
John said: “Mac has just given us exquisite R&B music every week. I believe you are so special. You belong in the finale of The Voice.”
Then voting was opened and when the results were in Jacquie Roar was revealed as the fifth finalist for season 24.
The Voice returns on Monday night with its season 24 finale performances at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
