Volvo wants to make getting a new car a hassle-free experience.

With Care by Volvo, the subscription service it's launching next year with a flat-rate monthly fee, the company says it "will make having a car as easy as owning a cell phone."

There's no haggling, since the price is a fixed fee, and the subscription includes maintenance and insurance. Upgrades will be available at the 12-month mark.

"This is simple and clear," Lex Kerssemakers, president and CEO of Volvo Car USA, said in a press release. "Everything but fuel is basically included in one flat rate."

The service will debut with Volvo's new XC40, the smallest SUV it's ever produced.

If you want to buy one instead of sign up for a subscription, that's still possible. At launch, the T5 all-wheel drive Momentum trim will start at $35,200. In summer 2018, a T4 front wheel drive will be introduced starting at $33,200.

It's the first Volvo available with contrasting body and roof colors, and 17 different combinations are possible. An optional panoramic sunroof fills the cabin with light, and when night falls, drivers can adjust the integrated LED mood lighting to match their moods.

The XC40 also supports wireless QI mobile phone charging (so you can juice up an iPhone X without a cord), and a standard nine-inch Sensus Connect touchscreen equipped with Bluetooth connectivity supports services like Spotify, Pandora, and Yelp.

A standard feature called City Safety will prompt the vehicle to brake automatically when it detects pedestrian, cyclist, other cars, and large animals. Production has already begun; here's a video of showing part of the process at Volvo's factory in Ghent, Belgium:

The Care by Volvo plan's pricing details will be unveiled on November 29 at the 2017 LA Auto Show.
