Walter Van Beirendonck Debuts Collaboration With G-Star Raw
Belgian designer Walter Van Beirendonck is challenging the norms of garment construction with G-Star Raw.
Known for his avant-garde fashion, the Antwerp Six designer partnered with the Dutch denim brand to create a 19-piece collection. The garments are made with certified Cradle-to-Cradle denim, which G-Star Raw pioneered in 2018.

For the collection, Van Beirendonck reflected on why garments are still made the same way as 30 years ago. “I aimed to challenge and reimagine traditional methods,” he said in a statement. “Why are clothes still being stitched when we have the potential to explore so many other techniques?”
Alternatively, Van Beirendonck chose to glue, tape and press pieces like denim overalls, jeans and jackets. Silhouettes are exaggerated with minimal stitching and embossed details.
The experimental collaboration debuted at Paris Fashion Week Men’s at the Botanical Garden of Faculté de Pharmacie de Paris. It was presented alongside Van Beirendonck’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection called “I Have Seen the Future,” consisting of padded suits, extreme proportions and circus-like accessories.
The collection with G-Star Raw will be released in early 2025.
Denim brands are making an impact at men’s fashion weeks this summer. Earlier this month, Paul Smith debuted a collaboration with Lee.
