Want to Look Like Christy Turlington? Try These Tips (and Get in Line)

Christy Turlington won me over as a kid with her beautiful, unique face staring out at me from music videos (Duran Duran’s “Notorious” and George Michael’s “Freedom! ’90”), movies (Isaac Mizrahi’s documentary Unzipped), magazine covers (all of them) and, of course, that Herb Ritts photo. When I learned Turlington was also a humanitarian, an activist, a yogi, and incredibly intelligent, I realized she was perhaps the best supermodel ever and became obsessed.
When I first saw model Chelsey Weimar I did a double-take. She looks so much like Christy! We decided to give her a simple ‘90s beauty look that anyone would be able to recreate at home. First you’ll need a flawless canvas. If you have any blemishes you can fake it with a lightweight foundation like Eve Lom Sheer Radiance Oil-Free Foundation SPF 20 ($50). Next you’ll want to play up your cheekbones with Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze and Glow ($68). Fill in your brows with a powder for the most natural look — try e.l.f. Studio Eyebrow Kit ($3). Skip the shadow and look for an eyeliner that will stay put. We applied Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner ($26) with a brush for accuracy. Lastly, look for a creamy, matte flesh-toned lipstick like Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in First Class Nude ($6) and pat it into your lips with your finger.
Of course, you can’t forget about Christy’s — I mean Chelsey’s — long shiny hair. Swept into a casual, messy updo, the only thing you’ll need to mimic the look is a great shine spray like Oribe Shine Light Reflecting Spray ($39) and a couple bobby pins. Voila! ‘90s glamour with an edge.
