Warner Bros. Reportedly Trying to Find Buyer for Coyote Vs ACME
The curtain hasn’t closed on Coyote Vs ACME yet.
After news broke last week that Warner Bros.’ live-action Looney Tunes film had been shelved, outlets are now reporting the company is trying to find a buyer.
One outlet is Puck News, who writes: “In a surprising about-face, Warner Bros. executives will allow the filmmakers of Coyote vs. Acme, a $70 million live action/CGI hybrid Looney Tunes film, to shop the movie to other potential distributors.”
The film, which stars John Cena, hasn’t officially been revealed by Warner Bros. However, numerous leaked clips have been circulating across the Internet and igniting interest.
We’ve seen behind-the-scenes shots of stunts, live orchestral music recordings, and dozens of stills posted by people who worked on the movie and don’t want to see their time go to waste.
It’s not the first time audience reactions have caused filmmakers to reverse course. Most recently, cult acclaim for Jared Leto superhero movie Morbius led Sony to re-release it in cinemas. In that case, however, it just bombed again.
There’s clearly a lot of genuine love for both Looney Tunes and John Cena, however, so this hopefully won’t be the last we see of the unreleased film.
In the meantime, check out the trailer for Freelance, another big Cena film that actually has a release date.
