Our OB/GYN discusses oak galls, which some claim that in a powder form can help with vaginal tightness, discharge, and odor.

"We don't have evidence to support the use of this, we don't even know if this stuff is safe," Dr. Nita says, explaining though it might reduce a discharge, but says that is not a good thing. She says that if you have a discharge, it is not something to mask and notes that being dry down there is not ideal for sex. As for dealing with odor, she says this product could affect your pH balance and increase the risk of infections. When it comes to the product's tightening claim, she says, "No, it's just not."

Dr. Nita also discusses the claim that vapor rub can boost your sex life, cure thrush and add fragrance.

"It's just too strong for your vagina, it's going to irritate it," she says. As for helping with odor, she says, "Your vagina is not supposed to smell like a rose garden and if you have a strong odor then you need to go to the doctor." She also explains that using this product could cause pain in that area.
