Watch 800-Pound Bison at North Carolina Zoo Celebrate Spring with Hilarious Happy Dance
Humans aren’t the only ones who are happy about the arrival of spring. It seems that the dawn of a new season this week had even the biggest creatures feeling a bit lighter on their feet.
One in particular was an especially giddy bison at the North Carolina Zoo in Asheboro, who was caught on film prancing around her grassy enclosure. In a video shared by the zoo on Facebook, the 800-pound, not-so-tiny dancer named Calf can be seen kicking her feet up, rolling around on the ground, and frolicking happily. At one point she even attempts to persuade her neighbors, a herd of elk, to join her. Spoiler: they weren’t interested.
“Our bison at the North Carolina Zoo is doing her happy dance for the first day of spring!” the caption alongside the now-viral clip reads.
According to The News & Observer, Calf is a member of the zoo’s small herd of four American Bison—all females between 10 and 20 years of age. The others are named Libby, Lucy and Nohorn (because she has no horns).
