Watch the 'America's Got Talent' Judges Award a Surprise Golden Buzzer to this Amazing Dance Troupe
When America’s Got Talent began its final night of auditions, there were no Golden Buzzers left to give out. The first Golden Buzzer of the season had been a surprise group Golden Buzzer that was given to the Mzansi Youth Choir from Soweto, Johannesburg, South Africa. Simon Cowell gave his to 17-year-old Indonesian singer/songwriter Putri Ariani; Howie Mandel selected synchronized dance troupe Murmuration; Terry Crews was moved to award his to 8-year-old Chioma and the Atlanta Drum Academy; Sofia Vergara’s went to 27-year-old Gabriel Henrique from Brazil, and Heidi Klum awarded hers to 27-year-old Lavender Darcangelo, a blind, autistic singer.

So, when the performances began, there wasn’t a great expectation, but that all changed when the final act of the season 18 auditions took the stage: the Chibi Unity dance team from Niigata, Japan.
A spokesperson for the dance troupe told Simon, “When we saw the Mayyas as the champions of AGT last year, we thought, ‘We have to get on the AGT stage.'" And so, they auditioned and were invited to come and try out in front of the judges.
When they were done performing their dance routine, Howie said, “The dance category on AGT for season 18 is off the charts, but you took it to another level. The emotion that comes out of your dancing is inspirational. You added everything. It was so wonderful. I loved the speed, the dexterity, and the moves you had. I would love to see a show, an hour of you, in Las Vegas.”
Heidi added, “I loved it because it was unexpected. For me, the music was unexpected. I loved the changes of the outfits. It was very dynamic and super good.”
Sofia, who selected the Mayyas as her Golden Buzzer last season, told the dancers, “I was getting goosebumps and my heart was beating. It was the best dancing I have ever seen in my life. It was the perfect AGT audition.”
And Simon wrapped it up, saying, “When I saw this audition, I wasn’t thinking just about dance, it was so powerful, so original, so incredible. I think right now, we’re all thinking the same thing …”
And so saying, he called host Terry Crews to come down from the stage to join the judges.
When he did, Simon said, “We loved you so much, so we collectively would like to give you something special.”
And with the audience chanting, “Golden Buzzer. Golden Buzzer,” all four judges and Terry hit the Golden Buzzer sending Chibi Unity straight through to the Live Shows.
