Watch Brie Larson Crush 3 One-Arm Pullups in a New Workout Video on Instagram
Captain Marvel, a.k.a. Carol Danvers, is commonly known as one of the strongest characters in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe—a trait which is apparently shared by the actress who plays her. In a new clip that she shared to Instagram, Brie Larson just performed a set of one-arm pullups that show off her considerable arm strength.
“Umm *hi* don’t mind me achieving my one-arm pull-up goal!” She wrote in the caption for the video, which sees her completing three full reps before dropping from the bar and doing a little victory dance.
Larson is kind of a pullup pro at this point. She consistently works to improve on her grip strength with rope pullups, and challenges herself with weighted pullups. She also counts deadlifts, pushups, and weighted arm circles among her upper body and arm day training staples.
But this isn’t just all in the name of looking like a superhero and doing stunts on-screen; Larson’s functional fitness is on point, too. Last year, the actress climbed Grand Teton, the second-highest point in Wyoming, after only six weeks of preparation. She and her Captain Marvel trainer Jason Walsh carried out the climb in secret after he challenged her to join him, and she later called it a “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity” when they eventually released a short film about their experience.
Larson is currently training for the Captain Marvel sequel, which was recently given the new title The Marvels and is expected to bring her character together with a range of other superwomen, including Ms. Marvel and Monica Rambeau, last seen in Disney+’s WandaVision.
