Watch Dr. Pimple Popper Nearly Get Hit With a Projectile 'Mud' Cyst
In a new Instagram video, Dr. Pimple Popper knocks out a muddy cyst with a punch and a scoop.

The cyst featured is likely an epidermoid cyst, which contains a collection of wet dead skin cells and keratin.
In a new Instagram video, Dr. Pimple Popper—aka, dermatologist and TLC host Dr. Sandra Lee, MD—knocks out a muddy cyst with a punch and a scoop. And this “mudslide” cyst fights back—with projectiles.
In the clip, Dr. Lee uses a surgical punch to pop out a circle of skin and access the deeply embedded growth. This method allows Dr. Lee to dig deep without causing a serious amount of trauma to surrounding tissue. With a squeeze of the mass, the cyst’s contents come flying out, complete with some cringeworthy sound effects. Even Dr. Lee gasps in surprise at this projectile.
After a few successful squeezes, Dr. Lee digs into hole with a curette to scoop out even more contents. The resulting goop is muddy and brown-tinged, making it a memorable mudslide.
Dr. Lee tells the patient that the growth is a cyst, but doesn’t specify what type. However, this is likely an epidermoid cyst, which contains a collection of wet dead skin cells and keratin. Though it’s unclear where this particular cyst is on the patient, epidermoid cysts often occur on the face, neck, and body. Though they are usually filled with chunky, white contents, epidermoid cysts come in all textures and colors.
