Watch the First Trailer for 'Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire'
Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire
Apparently somebody called the Ghostbusters, because they are coming back! In the spring of 2024, the original Ghost Hunters are returning to big screens to chase down more ghouls in New York City.
After the original Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II films came out in the 1980s, fans of the beloved paranormal comedy series had to wait 25 years for the next entry into the franchise. Now, we'll have had three Ghostbusters films in less than a decade. First, in 2016, Paul Feig gave us the standalone reboot starring Melissa McCarty, Kristin Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones. Then, in 2021, we got the long-awaited sequel to Ghostbusters II (a requel, if you will) in the form of Ghostbusters: Afterlife. Now, only three years later, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire is bringing the franchise back to New York City (albeit a much colder one than you're used to).
Frozen Empire is set up to be one of the biggest movies of the spring. Here's everything we know about Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire.
What is the release date for Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire?
The fourth movie in the Ghostbusters series (and fifth in the franchise over all) will premiere exclusively in theaters on March 29, 2024.
Where can I watch Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire?
Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire will be playing exclusively in theaters at first. It will presumably then head to video-on-demand and possibly streaming, but since Sony doesn't have its own streaming platform, we don't know where it will land.
What is Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire about?
According to the press site, "In Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, the Spengler family returns to where it all startedāthe iconic New York City firehouseāto team up with the original Ghostbusters, whoāve developed a top-secret research lab to take busting ghosts to the next level. But when the discovery of an ancient artifact unleashes an evil force, Ghostbusters new and old must join forces to protect their home and save the world from a second Ice Age."
So basically lots of Ghostbusters, lots of ghosts and lots of icicles.
